Upgrading
When you purchase TMS you will receive free upgrades up until the next major release. If the next major release happens within 12 months of your purchase then you will receive this also. Upgrading at the moment requires all files to be overwritten and if the database schema has changed then this needs to be re-created as well.

For the next major release TMS will be providing an upgrade script and a more proficient installation utility.

Hacking
If you choose to hack into the TMS Membership Script source code then that is your perogative. However this will likely make upgrading more difficult. It will mean you will have to copy the changes over to the next version of TMS Membership Script when it is available. One way around this is to submit your changes to the TMS development team for inclusion in the next release of the TMS Membership Script core code.
